Ocean Financial is proud to present The Interfaith Nutrition Network (INN) Soup Kitchen as part of our ongoing Charity Spotlight Program.

As a not-for-profit, volunteer-based organization, The INN provides a broad variety of essential services to assist those challenged by hunger, homelessness, and profound poverty.

INN Programs
The Interfaith Nutrition Network operates the Mary Brennan INN, the largest soup kitchen on Long Island, normally serving a hot, nutritious meal to 200-350 guests each weekday all year long, as well as access to shower facilities and a non-perishable food pantry. In addition to the basic needs the soup kitchen provides, the Center for Transformative Change (CTC) has been in operation since 2016 serving as a resource center and free clothing and housewares boutique. CTC has direct relationships with local organizations to help guests get back on their feet, no matter their circumstances.

Emergency and long-term housing shelters round out The INN’s programs, with temporary housing for families and individuals, and a long-term housing program for formerly homeless guests who need additional help as they strive to become self-sufficient.

COVID-19 Programs
As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, The INN, like many other organizations, has been forced to modify services, while continuing to serve the community. The Mary Brennan INN soup kitchen has shifted from serving hot meals to a bag lunch program. Each weekday, volunteers assemble lunch bags of sandwiches, snacks, and beverages, as well as soups and hot meals, that are safely given out through plexiglass booths. Each Friday, pantry bags filled with essential grocery items are provided, as well as limited supplies of personal care items and diapers. At the CTC, guests are given assistance by phone or in-person following safety protocols, from trained staff members to help them navigate their current situations. In the shelters, guests are safely quarantined, and are given meals and needed items. How To Help
